Frauenschuh's compostable packaging

We have made it our mission to minimize plastic in our company as much as possible and to focus on degradable products and renewable materials.

We therefore rely on the use of compostable packaging from TIPA for the packaging of our clothing.

Benefits of TIPA packaging:

  • TIPA's packaging emulates the physical and functional properties of conventional plastics, while being fully compostable at end of life.
  • As opposed to conventional plastic, TIPA bags compost without leaving behind microplastic, a pollutant that enters our bodies, the air and the food.
  • TIPA's packaging fully compost at home and/or in an industrial composter, leaving no waste behind.
  • After the composting process it replenishes topsoil and maintains soil fertility in several ways: stores carbon, regulates water, increases soil biodiversity and more.

TIPA’s mission is to create packaging solutions that continuously increase the amount of renewable materials and have zero waste post composting. This is why they choose to use a combination of fossil-based and bio-based polymers - both fully compostable - ones that emulate the functionalities of conventional plastic.

It what manner does TIPA's packaging biodegrade?

During composting, TIPA’s packaging disintegrates and then biodegrades.

1. When it integrates, it means it breaks down into small particles of less than 2mm in size. The time frame for this stage ranges between 3 and 6 months.

2. When it biodegrades, it means the small particles are digested by bacteria and turned into CO2, water and organic mass. This stage ranges also between 3 and 6 months.

Please remove all non-compostable components after use.

Put the packaging in the home compost or in the organic waste collection.

The packaging disintegrates within 6 months and decomposes within 12 months.

Once the compost is ready, you can use it as fertilizer for your garden.
